On August 4, a solemn ceremony of awarding winners of the VII All-Russian competition with international participation "BIM LEADERS 2022/23" was held at the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Communal Services of the Russian Federation.
The results of this competition are traditionally announced on the eve of the Builder's Day in order to determine the best projects in the field of BIM technologies. This annual competition is one of the ways to identify the talent of the industry.
The Metropolis company took 2nd place in the category "Information modeling of public facilities" with the Opera and Ballet Theatre project at Cape Khrustalny. The specialists of the Metropolis company, which acted as the general designer of this project with an area of 75,550 m2, created 27 digital models of the facility. The total area of the building with complex “levitating” shape is 61,361.63 m2, the height is 37 to 52 m. The roof of the theater is a spatial structure with overhanging edges from all sides and a canopy over the main entrance. The shape of the building was designed in the Rhinoceros software, which was exported to Revit with the help of a script in Grasshopper.
Oleg Baranov, Deputy General Director of Metropolis, attended the award ceremony as the representative of Metropolis. The event was chaired by First Deputy Miniser of Construction, Housing and Utilities Alexander Lomakin, Director of the Digital Development Department of the Ministry of Construction Nikolai Parfentiev and President of NOTIM Mikhail Viktorov.
First Deputy Minister of Construction, Housing and Utilities Alexander Lomakin emphasized that there are more and more new faces and companies among the winners. “This indicates that the BIM community is expanding and growing, the nominations for the practical application of BIM are now presented. This gives the ministry an understanding that information modeling technologies have already become an integral part of the industry and their implementation will not stop.”
In total, 190 projects in 12 nominations were submitted to the competition this year by participants from almost all regions of the country. The Expert Council shortlisted 34 projects and 12 student papers from 19 regions.
Irek Fayzullin, The Minister of Construction of Russia, in his welcoming speech noted: “The introduction of new technologies in construction is a task that the state, society and business must work together to solve in order to fulfill the obligations to provide citizens of our country with modern housing, to create smart and convenient cities.
