    XXVII International Architectural Festival "Zodchestvo"

On October 17, at 12:00 pm, the grand opening of the XXVII International Architectural Festival "Zodchestvo" took place in Gostiny Dvor. The event was held on October 17-19 with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Government of Moscow and the Moscow Region. The organizer is the Union of Architects of Russia. "Zodchestvo" is an annual international architectural festival, within the framework of which a review of achievements in the field of architecture and urban planning is held. Its competition program involves not only creative architectural teams, design institutes, workshops and bureaus, but also young architects, students of architectural universities and faculties, children's architectural and art groups, as well as entire cities and regions of Russia.

The opening speech was given to Nikolai Shumakov, President of the Union of Architects of Russia and the Union of Moscow Architects: “A whole year has passed since the last XXVI festival "Zodchestvo". Finally, we saw each other again at one of the few festivals for professionals, where it is always a pleasure to meet and chat. This year we have a very extensive business and exhibition program, and thanks to the curators of the festival, we also have an incredibly interesting presentation of material. 40 regions of Russia take part in "Zodchestvo'19", 16 of which presented their stands. Last year our festival was visited by 28 thousand people - I hope that this year we will easily surpass this figure. I wish everyone happiness and transparency in life.”

Chief Architect of Moscow Sergey Kuznetsov said at the opening of the festival: “I am very grateful to the Union, which for many years, despite the difficulties, has been doing a great job and organizing this event. The Committee for Architecture and Urban Planning, as a representative of the city of Moscow, also participates here with its ideas and desire to show itself. I invite everyone to visit our booth, dedicated to this year's timely topic of careful attitude to historical objects that do not have a status, but no less valuable for that."

The opening ceremony was also attended by the most important figures in architecture and urban planning: Keren Cohen-Gat, Chargé d'Affaires of the State of Israel in the Russian Federation, Vladislav Savinkin and Vladimir Kuzmin, curators of Zodchestvo'19, Dmitry Mayorov, General Director of the RUS' Corporation and Anton Debabov, Development Director of CARBOGLASS JSC.

The theme of the festival, TRANSPARENCY, announced by curators Vladimir Kuzmin and Vladislav Savinkin, was presented not only by materials - glass, polycarbonate, but also by deep concepts: visual openness of the interpenetration of architecture and society, as well as the visibility and accessibility of professional information, which has become the hallmark of this festival.

Particular attention at Zodchestvo'19 was paid to the development of modern technologies and methods of demonstrating new architectural solutions: for example, the special project "Protocols for the emergence of fog and frost phenomena" demonstrated the architecture of the future through natural phenomena recreated using a 3D printer, and students of the ION School of Design RANEPA gave visitors the opportunity to look at the masterpieces of abstractionists in another dimension with the help of VR glasses - and this is only a small part of the architecture that the guests managed to feel, see or feel.

During the three days of the event, dozens of round tables, sessions, lectures, presentations, plenums and discussions were held at specially equipped venues - the Forum, Lecture Hall, Conference Halls 1 and 2. As part of the business program, more than 300 leading urban planners, urbanists and architects from Russia and abroad raised the most pressing issues, discussed the most burning issues of concern to the professional community.
