Kazan has been hosting a research competition for the Mayor's Scholarship for 30 years. This year, Anastasia Ermakova, an architect at Metropolis and a 2nd-year graduate student at Kazan State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, became the winner after being selected in several stages and receiving expert recognition! Anastasia received the award from Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan.

The competition provides an opportunity for students to demonstrate their research achievements and receive recognition for their work. Anastasia's work is devoted to the development of a business cluster with a cultural center in the Kirovsky district of Kazan. Anastasia presented ideas for the development of urban space, solving various urgent tasks, from creating additional jobs to organizing green zones to improve the environment.

As part of the first stage of the competition, Anastasia's research work was evaluated among 200 submitted applications from undergraduates and postgraduates, among which only 90 papers of the highest level were selected, and the authors of these projects were preparing to defend their ideas in person. Based on the results of the three-minute face-to-face presentations of all the finalists, the competition commission identified 38 winners, and we are proud that Anastasia revealed the essence and significance of her research and became one of the best contestants!

"This is my second time participating in this competition. Last year, I managed to qualify for the full-time stage, but unfortunately, I did not win the award. This year, I did my best to present my project with dignity and convey its main idea. It was exciting and very important to me, because not everyone has the honor to defend their university at this level. I am glad that I was able to speak and share my thoughts and developments, and I hope that my experience will be a step towards new successes in the future," Anastasia shares.
