The year is rapidly coming to an end, and we decided to sum it up. 2024 turned out to be bright and eventful: the Metropolis team took part in more than 10 major events, several of our facilities – Tretyakov Gallery branch in Kaliningrad and Choreographic Academy in Sevastopol – were put into operation, received 26 positive expert opinions, took part in the filming of a documentary about the Luzhniki Aquatics Palace, we have once again become the No. 1 employer in the field of architectural and construction design, the number of employees of the company has exceeded 650 people, and we have also expanded our presence in Saratov and Novosibirsk.

THE ARCHITECTURE OF THE METROPOLIS BEGAN TO PLAY WITH NEW COLORS

In 2024, Metropolis won the Best for Life Design Award 2024 for the fourth time in the Design Bureau category with the Hotel 5* in Vladivostok.

[The architectural idea of the five-star hotel complex in Vladivostok belongs to the Metropolis team, the company is also the general designer of the facility, which is currently under construction].

Just a month later, Metropolis won the Best Design Concept award at The ARCHICRUISE Award 2024.

Also in the summer of 2024, two projects of the drama and comedy theater concept in Cherkessk were shortlisted for the G8 Creative Awards in the Architectural Workshop of the Year nomination. The authors of the concepts were the 1st and 2nd architectural workshops of the Metropolis company.

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

We continue to develop the industry by supporting the younger generation and popularizing the engineering profession. In 2024, the Metropolis initiative to create the Architecture, Design, Construction and Housing and Communal Services League as part of the International Engineering CASE-IN Championship was supported by the Russian Ministry of Construction and included in the 2030 Development Roadmap. Thanks to this, the league has acquired a new scale, and Metropolis has become its strategic partner.

85 teams from 25 universities from 19 cities of Russia and the Republic of Belarus took part in this competition season. More than 30 Metropolis experts acted as mentors and jury members. The finalists of the championship were invited to the open-door days at the company's offices, and at the moment many of them have already become part of our friendly team.

We continue to cooperate directly with industry universities, in particular, we have repeatedly acted as the general partner of the SPbGASU Team Championship. Also in 2024, for the first time, diploma defenses were held at St. Petersburg State University in a new format developed jointly by the university and the Metropolis company. The format implies a comprehensive diploma defense by the project team, as it takes place in practice in project organizations, which reduces the gap between academic education and business needs already at the training stage. The head of the OViCV department at Metropolis joined the examination committee, which evaluated 25 students defending their diplomas using the new methodology.

PROFESSIONAL RECOGNITION

In 2024, 13 employees of the Metropolis company became winners of the Engineer of the Year competition. The competition is the largest social project implemented in Russia in order to identify and disseminate the best practices and achievements of engineering personnel, the best in their field of activity.

Also this year, we became two-time winners of the X International Professional Competition NOPRIZ for the best project with facilities of the Moscow clinical scientific and practical center named after A.S. Loginov and the «Stories» on Mosfilmovskaya St.

Metropolis has traditionally become the winner of the Competition for the best Security System Projects in the nomination «The largest number of elements in a BIM Model» for the project of the STONE Leninsky administrative and business complex in Moscow.

And, of course, our colleagues acted as members of the expert jury of the 100+ Awards and the First National Award «Director of the Year for Design in the construction complex», held as part of the IV Construction Forum-exhibition «Industry 4.0. Construction».

EXPANDING OUR HORIZONS

Also this year, as part of the business program of the International Construction Forum 100+ TechnoBuild, a session «The role and functions of the general designer on the example of the implementation of technically complex and unique facilities» was held, organized by Metropolis. One of the most important goals of the company this year was the systematic professional development of the Institute of General Design in Russia in dialogue with the main participants in the process.

In addition to their own session, 8 experts of the company acted as speakers of the business program of the forum, telling about the design features of unique and technically complex facilities. Throughout the year, our colleagues have acted as speakers and experts at other industry-relevant events.

Such a large number of professional activities of our team did not go unnoticed by the leading business and industry media. The information trail about the activities of Metropolis is spread over more than 100 publications. This year, publications about the company can be found on the pages of the scientific and technical journal Engineering Systems, RBC, and «Vestnik. Construction», «Construction Weekly», «Construction Newspaper», «FederalPress», Construction.RU, ASN Info, Archi.ru, 100+ Journal, «The Project. Russia», «Moscow auctions», etc.

METROPOLIS IN SPORT

Traditionally, the Metropolis team set new sports records, namely, it took part in the Innovation Volleyball League, taking second place among 9 teams of the Kalibr Business Center. In addition, our colleagues took part in the Moscow Cycling Festival, the Night Race in St. Petersburg, the Marathon 52 in Nizhny Novgorod, the ULOVO Cup as part of sport fishing, and conquered mountains.… That's because our team is not just smart, but passionate and versatile like–minded people.

We also know how to have a great vacation from Moscow to Novosibirsk! In August, the Metropolis team celebrated Builder's Day by gathering together in nature. The event was filled with various activities aimed at team building – competitions, contests and songs around the campfire. The New Year's corporate party was no less interesting, for example, in Moscow, in addition to songs performed by a cover band and dancing, guests were offered master classes on creating caramel toys, a quiz, a beautiful photo zone and even a photo booth with artificial intelligence. A separate highlight of the program was traditionally the awarding of employees who have worked for the company for 10 years.
