As part of the XVI Russian National Conference on Seismic Safety and Disaster Risk Reduction (SEISMO-2025), held from May 28 to June 3, 2025, in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and Moscow, the participation and contributions of scientists and specialists in the fields of seismology and earthquake-resistant construction were given special recognition.

The conference was organized by the Government of the Sakhalin Region, the Eurasian Seismological Association (ESA), the Federal State Budgetary Institution «Central Research and Design Institute of the Ministry of Construction of Russia» (FSBI TsNIIP of the Russian Ministry of Construction), the public organization «Delovaya Rossiya» (Business Russia) and the National Expert Association «SROSEKSPERTIZA». The event was held with the support of the Russian Ministry of Construction and partner organizations.

The SEISMO-2025 conference brought together over 250 participants, including leading experts from Russia and CIS countries, marking an important milestone in the development of a strategy to improve the country’s seismic safety.

A deep professional and comprehensive discussion of the problems of ensuring the protection of the urban environment from natural and technical impacts in urbanized earthquake-prone territories of Russia allowed us to formulate clear recommendations for the implementation of control orders and Decrees of the President of the Russian Federation.

As part of the solemn events at the Conference, scientists and specialists were awarded medals «For contribution to the development of science and technology» in the field of seismology and earthquake-resistant construction of the first, second and third degrees.

Among those awarded honorary awards were the following specialists: Viktor Alperovich, Efim Vladimirovich Basin, Valery Ivanovich Belonosov, Leonid Mikhailovich Bogomolov, Yuri Anatolyevich Vinogradov, Alexey Nikolaevich Volodin, Andrey Remuldovich Zalpin, Dmitry Viktorovich Kostylev, Nadira Ganievna Mavlyanova, Valery Pavlovich Mozolevsky, Gennady Maximovich Nigmetov, Alexey Yuryevich Ozerov, Olga Vitalievna Pavlenko, Shebalin Pyotr Nikolaevich — each of them was also awarded the title of «Honorary Member of the Eurasian Seismological Association».

Congratulations to Mohamed Nasser, Managing Partner of Metropolis, who was awarded the medal «For his contribution to the field of seismology and strengthening seismic safety in construction».

In addition to the medal, Mohamed Nasser received the title of «Honorary Member of the Eurasian Seismological Association», thereby confirming his long-term active participation in the development of seismic monitoring and infrastructure protection issues.
