    100+ TechnoBuild, 14 October 2025
«Metropolis» has become the only company in Russia to win 7 engineering Oscars.

On October 1, as part of the XII International Forum and Exhibition 100+ TechnoBuild 2025 in Yekaterinburg, the winners of the fifth All-Russian Engineering and Architectural Award 100+ Awards were announced. This year, more than 206 projects from 12 regions of Russia, from the Republic of Crimea to the Kamchatka Territory, competed in 19 categories. Only 96 of them made it to the award shortlists in 2025. The most competitive categories were «Best Architectural Solution – Under Construction» and «Best BIM Model of a Building».

The jury and expert council included more than 25 experts: traditionally, they were leading specialists in the construction industry, as well as representatives of relevant government authorities and local self-government bodies.

The winners received their awards from the hands of the Minister of Construction of Russia, Irek Faizullin, the Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region, Denis Pasler, and the President of NOPRIZ, Anvar Shamuzafarov. The award ceremony was held in the format of a gubernatorial reception.

The company «Metropolis» received an engineering Oscar in two categories.

The award for Best Architectural Solution – Under Construction, for the Opera and Ballet Theatre in Sevastopol, was accepted by Alexander Vorozhbitov, General Director.

In several categories, the jury reached a unanimous decision; in particular, there was no doubt among the members in determining the best constructive solution for an under-construction facility — this category was awarded to the Sevastopol Opera and Ballet Theatre. The award was presented to Alexey Kushchenko, Head of the Structural Solutions Department.

Thus, the Opera and Ballet Theatre in Sevastopol became the only facility in Russia to win three engineering Oscars («Best BIM Model of a Building» – 2023, «Best Architectural Solution: Under Construction» – 2025, and «Best Structural Solution: Under Construction» – 2025), while «Metropolis» became the only company in Russia to win seven engineering Oscars.

The Opera and Ballet Theatre in Sevastopol is truly a unique, technically complex facility, and it is also part of one of Russia’s cultural and educational clusters being developed under the national project «Culture». The construction of such clusters began in 2018 by order of the President of Russia and continues today in Vladivostok, Kemerovo, Kaliningrad, and Sevastopol.

The project’s success is driven by the high level of professionalism and engagement of the «Metropolis» team. In an interview at the open studio of «FederalPress» during 100+ TechnoBuild, company representatives — Head of the Structural Solutions Department Alexey Kushchenko and Head of the Technological Solutions Group Alexander Sumenkov — discussed the project’s complex and unique architectural and structural solutions.

«This is a unique solution, a feat of everyone involved in it, because such structural elements have not yet been used in our country. The success of the project lies in the coordinated work of a team united by a single idea and a single goal,» — shared Alexey Kushchenko.

More than 100 specialists from «Metropolis», including over 20 structural engineers, were involved in the development of the Theatre. Thanks to their teamwork and high level of professionalism, they were able to bring the concept to life.

Alexander Sumenkov described this project as an excellent example of developing the latest and unique technological solutions and of effective collaboration among all participants during the implementation stage.

«The Opera and Ballet Theatre project in Sevastopol is an excellent example of the interconnection of all the aforementioned values, and we hope it will receive a well-deserved award not only in the form of an architectural prize but also from grateful audiences,» — he noted.

We extend our sincere gratitude to all our colleagues involved in this project, as well as to Alexey Kushchenko and Alexander Sumenkov for their willingness to provide insight into the design work through the video interview.
